A firefighter leaves the scene of a blaze at a Burkettsville-area barn owned by John Rindler. Firefighters were called to 300 state Route 118 at 1:14 p.m. Friday, according to Burkettsville Fire Chief Doug Siefring. The vacant chicken coop was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. It took them about 30 minutes to extinguish the flames. No damage estimate was available at press time. Firefighters from the Burkettsville, North Star, Rossburg, St. Henry and Southwest Mercer departments responded.
