Jerome Grieshop
Jerome B. "Jerry" Grieshop, 91, Fort Recovery, Ohio, died June 14, 2015 at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater, OH.
He was born January 24, 1924, in Fort Recovery, to the late Henry Grieshop and Rose (Schuh) Grieshop. On October 16, 1948, he married Norma (Borgerding) Grieshop, who survives. Jerry and his wife, Norma, were married for 66 years.
Also surviving are three sons, Mike (Brenda) Grieshop of Fort Recovery, Steve Grieshop of Fort Recovery, and Eric (Pat) Grieshop of Fort Recovery; five daughters, Deanna (Jay) Kastan of Cincinnati, OH, Sharon (Vic) Post of St. Henry, OH, Deb (Bill) Ahlers of West Carrollton, OH, Mary Beth (Tom) Gerlach of St. Henry, and Jane (Brian) Froning of St. Henry; a sister, Rosemary (Herb) Kaiser of Coldwater; three brothers, John Grieshop of St. John, OH, Louis (Charlene) Grieshop of Fort Recovery, and Herb (Janice) Grieshop of Celina, OH; 30 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Becky (Bob) Campbell of Rossburg, OH; a son-in-law, Bill (Nancy) Link of Fort Recovery; two sisters-in-law, Doris Grieshop of Celina and Jeanette Grieshop of Fort Recovery; and a brother-in-law, Fred Wilker of New Bremen, OH.
Preceding him in death are two sons, Donald and Thomas Grieshop; a daughter, Cynthia Link; two brothers, Dennis and Maurice Grieshop; and sisters, Martha Dues, Ruth Wilker, Laura Langenkamp and Catherine Grieshop who died in infancy.
Jerome was a co-founder, co-owner and former president of J&M Manufacturing, Fort Recovery. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII in the European Theater. He was a flight crew member on B24 Bombers and received the Air Medal, Silver Star and Purple Heart.
Jerry was a member of the American Legion Post 345, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6515 and was one of the founders of the Ambassador Park, all of Fort Recovery. He was also a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, where he was a choir member for 50 years.
Jerome enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and traveling.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery, Fr. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2:00 pm-8:00 pm Wednesday and 9:00 am-10:00 am Thursday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion.
