Robert Weber
Robert "Chico" "Bob" Arthur Weber, 76, died at 7:40 a.m., July 2, 2015 at Celina Manor.
He was born January 2, 1939 in Celina, to the late Lloyd Frederick and Margaret Wavoline (King) Weber.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara (Wise), who died March 27, 2012, and stepmother, Marie (Berg) Weber.
Surviving are a daughter Jill (Hiro) Tanaka, Austin, Texas; a sister Jacqualyn (Luke) Springer, Celina, three grandsons (Keegan, Sebastian and Peyton), niece Melanie & Randall Ewing of McComb, and nephew Tim Springer of Celina, as well as his companion Yorki-poo, Bambi.
A 1957 graduate of Celina Senior High School, he had been employed by GTE (Verizon) for over 33 years. After retirement he briefly worked for the city of Celina with the ground maintenance crew.
Bob enrolled in the Army and was stationed in Paris, France from 1961-1963, mostly playing catcher for the Army baseball team.
His passion to the very end was OSU football. He was also a highly devoted dad and particularly enjoyed watching his daughter succeed in running. Having been a Bulldog Varsity Letterman himself in several sports, Bob continued his loyalty to CSHS sports, especially track & field and cross-country, taking many photographs and videos of those athletes in the 80s.
A former heavy smoker, Chico became a kick-butt master runner for many years. He was often spotted running and riding a bike around the city. His Corvette license plate was "FIT".
Also, affectionally known as Mr. Fix-it, he installed and repaired without charging for his services many items besides phones for various folks over the years.
Other favorite past times included drinking coffee and eating toasted PB with banana/jam sandwiches, napping, watching TV, and nurturing/feeding all kinds of critters, listening/dancing to a genre of loud music, and admiring his stain glass and boyhood coin collections.
Both he and his wife donated their bodies to science at The Ohio State University.
Memorial services will be held in October of 2015.
In lieu of flowers, buy a sweet pet or drink some Lambrusco or coffee with someone you love. Contributions can also be made to State of the Heart Hospice.
Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
