Bertha Wenning
Bertha C. (Eilerman) Wenning, age 93, Osgood, passed away of natural causes Monday evening, Aug. 17, 2015, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater, Ohio.
She was born March 1, 1922, in Fort Loramie, Ohio, to the late Anton and Elizabeth (Sommers) Eilerman. On Aug. 20, 1947, at the former St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Patrick, Bertha married Harold L. Wenning who preceded her in death on August 12, 1982.
She is survived by nine children: Nick & Shirley Wenning of Celina, David & Janet Wenning of Greenville, Ginny & Randy Gerlach of St. Henry, Sue & Terry Kremer of Englewood, Nancy & Bill Link of Fort Recovery, Martin & CC Wenning of Burkettsville, Mary & BJ Mattingly of St. Henry, Julie & Tom Kessen of Carthagena, Joann & Randy Liette of Chickasaw; 30 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren & one great-great grandson; three brothers: John & Marie Eilerman of Fort Loramie, Vernon & Vera Eilerman of Minster and Tony & Evelyn Eilerman of Fort Loramie; sisters & brothers-in-law, Irene & Clete Albers of Ashland and Alvin Spraley of North Star.
She was preceded in death by seven siblings: Loretta & Ray Pleiman, Adolph & Verona Eilerman, Albert & Marie Eilerman, Paul & Vic Eilerman, Teckla & Urban Bergman, Verona & Ben Schemmel and Mary & Lawrence Kuether; brothers & sister-in-law: Arnold & Rita Wenning, Pauline & Elmer Vehorn, Dorothy & Ray Broerman, Mary & Virgil Thobe and Lucille & Bob Heinrichs.
A 1940 graduate of Fort Loramie High School, Bertha went on to study business for one year at Capital University in Columbus.
Mrs. Wenning was a dedicated homemaker. She had been a member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, St. Barbara's Ladies Sodality, the Maria Stein Shrine Prayer Guild and the Osgood Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Bertha enjoyed playing cards, gardening and entertaining her grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2015, at St. Nicholas Church in Osgood with Rev. David L. Zink presiding. Interment will follow at St. Martin Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at Gehret Funeral Home, 64 Elm St. in Fort Loramie.
