James Chesser
James D. "Jim" Chesser, age 66, of rural Coldwater, passed away Wednesday evening, August 26, 2015, at his residence.
Born November 4, 1948 in Celina, he was the son of Francis D. "Frank" & Mildred L. "Millie" Linn Chesser, who are both deceased.
Jim and Virginia E. "Ginny" Jutte were married on October 4, 1971 and she survives, along with their five children: Kathy (Tony) Hart of Coldwater, Judy (Greg) St. Mary of Perrysburg, Dixie (Matt) Pohlman of Ft. Recovery, and Gregg Chesser and Ben (Danelle) Chesser of Celina.
Jim leaves behind eleven grandchildren, that he loved spending time with on the farm: Cody, Shelby, Derek & Mandi Hart, Ellen & Abby St. Mary, Liberty, Russell, Charity & Branston Pohlman, and Aubree Chesser. Also surviving Jim are a brother & three sisters: Jack (Karen) Chesser of Denver, CO, Suzie Chesser and Sally (Gil) Parrish of Dayton, and Linda Glascock of Cincinnati, and his in-laws, Nicholas (Debbie) Jutte of Montezuma and Gloria (Bill) Rogers of Coldwater.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Luke David Chesser, and his mother & father-in-law, Joseph & Alfrieda Jutte.
A lifelong dairy farmer, Jim established Chesser Dairy LLC, along with his sons. His favorite aspect of farming was operating the combine, harvesting crops. He also worked at the former New Idea Plant in Coldwater.
Jim had served as Chairman of the Board of The Peoples Bank Co., of Coldwater. He was a graduate of Coldwater High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jim had been a former Advisor for the Washington Winners 4-H Club, and was an avid card player.
A Celebration of Jim's Life will be held from 1:00 - 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 30 at the Bailey-Schockman VFW Post #5135, 3720 State Route 118, south of Coldwater.
Arrangements are being handled by W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina.
