Joyce Rohrer
Joyce E. Rohrer, 84, formerly of Marion, IN died 8:46 p.m. Thursday December 31, 2015 at Otterbein – St. Marys, with her family at her side.
She was born October 11, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY to Ernest and Anna (Taffner) Duelka. On June 12, 1954 in Hazleton, PA, she married Donald C. Rohrer, who died September 5, 2001.
Survivors include: son Charles (Laurie) Rohrer of Celina, OH; daughter Carolann (Garold) Dangler of Leipsic, OH; daughter Donna (Greg) Fennig of Greenwood, IN; daughter Faith (Jeff) Mygrant of Marion, IN; 9 grandchildren: Chad Rohrer; Todd (fiancee LeeAnn Kohn) Rohrer; Alicia (Derek) Fledderjohann; Quentin (Melissa) Shafer; Kortni Fennig; Kylie Fennig; Cory Fennig; Chanse Mygrant; Hope Mygrant; 2 great-grandchildren: Hunter Fledderjohann; Carter Rohrer.
Preceded in death by: parents Ernest and Anna Duelka; husband Donald C. Rohrer; brother Ernest Duelka, Jr.; brother Richard Duelka.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and attended First United Methodist Church, both in Marion, IN.
Family came first for Joyce. She did a fine job of raising her children, whom she loved dearly. She devoted much time to attending the various activities of her children and grandchildren. Whether sporting events or choir concerts, "Mom" could be found in the stands, rooting at the top of her lungs in support for her family members. Many treasured memories were created during family vacations to Myrtle Beach, SC. She also was a fan of the Pacers and Colts professional sports teams.
Together with her husband, Don, Joyce tended a large vegetable garden, and kept an immaculate yard.
Rites are scheduled to begin 4:00 p.m. Tuesday January 5, 2016 at Meyer Community Chapel of Otterbein – St. Marys. The Rev. Vince Lavieri will officiate the service.
Visitation 2–4 p.m. on Tuesday at Otterbein. In addition, there will be visitation 11:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Needham–Storey –Wampner Funeral Home 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue in Marion, IN. Burial will follow at the Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, in Marion, IN.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Grand Lake Hospice program.
