Maxine Howell
Maxine Howell, 91, a resident of Springmeade Healthcare Center in Tipp City, Ohio, and formerly of Saint Marys, died February 23, 2016, in Tipp City.
She was born May 25, 1924, in South Charleston, Ohio, the daughter of George and Lois (Maxwell) Coss. She married Richard Howell on April 29, 1950, and he preceded her in death on July 5, 2014.
She is survived by her children: Randy (Rosie) Howell of Arlington Heights, Illinois; Wanda (Steve) McAllister of Tipp City; by eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; by a sister, Phyllis Martin of Jamestown, Ohio. She is also survived by a son-in-law, Ronald Grieshop of Coldwater, Ohio. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Sue Howell of Greenville, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son, Richard "Max" Howell; by a daughter, Robin Grieshop; by a grandson, Ryan Howell; by her siblings Goldie, Gertrude, Willis, Naomi, Mitchell, Rachel, Francis and Georgia.
Maxine was a 1942 graduate of Springfield High School She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed making crafts, baking and sewing. She was an excellent seamstress, and she loved being around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church in Saint Marys; a life member of the DAV Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary and Eagles Lodge 767 Auxiliary. She was a member of the Buckeye All Hobbies Club and she was active in scouting for more than 20 years, and earned a certificate from the Governor of Ohio for her service.
Funeral rites will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, February 27, 2016, at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, Ohio, the Reverend Lynn Huffman, officiant. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to the Auglaize County Cancer Association.
