Emily Osterholt
Emily Ann (Brookhart) Osterholt, age 75, a resident of rural Portland, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2016, at 3:03 p.m. at her home in rural Portland, Ind.
Emily was born on September 6, 1940, in Coldwater, Ohio, the daughter of Lawrence D. and Jennie M. (Kerns) Brookhart.
She was a 1958 graduate of Coldwater High School. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Ladies Sodality, the Pike Township Friends and Neighbors Extension Homemakers and the Amateur Trapshooting Association.
She volunteered at the Fiber Fest and Spin-In did decorations for the Tri-State Gas Engine and Tractor Association Christmas party. She loved camping, sewing, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.
She married Thomas F. Osterholt on February 6, 1959 and he passed away on June 6, 2012.
Survivors include: 4 sons: Mark Osterholt (wife Marie) – Ft. Recovery, Ohio, Keith Osterholt (wife Melissa) – Portland, Indiana, Bradley Osterholt (wife Gloria) – Portland, Indiana, James Osterholt (wife Shawndell) – Modoc, Indiana; 1 daughter: Julia Guggenbiller (husband Donald) – Ft. Recovery, Ohio; 1 brother: Merl Brookhart (wife Marjorie) – Celina, Ohio; 1 sister: Orpha Hinton (husband Roland) – Celina, Ohio; 3 sister-in-laws: Margie Brookhart – Celina, Ohio, Marcieta Brookhart – Celina, Ohio, Eileen Brookhart – Celina, Ohio; 3 brother-in-laws: Howard Osterholt (wife Janette) – St. Henry, Ohio, Jerry Osterholt (wife Patricia) – St. Henry, Ohio, Paul Osterholt (wife Virginia) – St. Henry, Ohio; 16 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years, 2 granddaughters, Shelby Osterholt and Rachel (Osterholt) Theurer, her bothers Gordon, Dane, Rex, Leon and Bryce Brookhart, three sister-in-laws, Lee Brookhart, Betty Brookhart and Betty Osterholt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. A scripture service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portland. Father Bob Moran will officiate and burial will follow in the St. Henry Catholic Cemetery in St. Henry, Ohio.
