John Claypool
John William "Bill" Claypool, age 98 of Celina, Ohio passed away at 8:40 p.m. on Monday May 2, 2016 at the Briarwood Village in Coldwater, Ohio.
He was born on Oct. 25, 1917 in Fremont, Ohio to the late Elmer & Anna (Clinger) Claypool. On Jan. 23, 1942 he married his wife of 74 years, Margie Lucille Weidner, who lives in Coldwater.
Also surviving is his daughter & son-in-law Judie & Carl Braun of Celina, son & daughter-in-law Dennis & Chris Claypool of Sylvania three grandchildren Heidi & Tim Thees of Celina, Andrew & Fabienne Schwartz of St. Petersburg, Fl, Haven Claypool of Toledo, six step grandchildren, two great grandchildren Derek Drummond of Celina, Sarah Thees of Celina and twelve step great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his brothers Cliff, George, Clyde and Robert Claypool, a sister Katherine Karlovetz and a step brothers Walter Claypool and Glenn Claypool.
Bill graduated from Fremont-Ross High School, with the Class of 1935. He originally lived in Toledo, Ohio and was a tool & die maker for the Auto-Lite Corporation, then retired from the Owens Illinois Glass Company and moved to Florida for 20 years and settled in Celina in 2000.
He was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Celina, Masonic Lodge F&AM, the Celina Moose Lodge, American Legion and the V.F.W. Post.
Bill was an avid golfer and one of the original owners of Riverby Hills Golf Club in Waterville, Ohio. He was very proud of the fact that he was married to his little queen for 74 years. He had many friends and will be remembered by all for his quick wit.
A private celebration will be held by his family at a later date.
