Wilbert Reier
Wilbert G. Reier, age 93, of St. Henry, died June 8, 2016 at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born September 1, 1922, in Cranberry, Ohio, to the late Charles & Anna (Rindler) Reier. On February 5, 1947, he married Marcella Wellman, who survives in St. Henry.
He is also survived by four children, Robert & Phyllis Reier, St. Henry, Kathy Davis, St. Henry, Mary & Jim Lefeld, Mason, and Nancy & Jim Borgert, Wapakoneta. Wilbert is also survived by ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two on the way, and sisters, Viola Kemper, Chickasaw, and Pauline & Alfred Luttmer, St. Henry.
He was preceded in death by a son in-law Bill Davis, a brother, Walter Reier, and brother in-law, Werner Kemper.
He was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry, a WWII veteran, having served in Germany as an operator and translator for the U.S. Army. He was a life member of Celina V.F.W. and Coldwater American Legion.
Wilbert was a farmer, and worked at Minster Machine for over 30 years. He enjoyed ballroom dancing with his wife, playing cards, and their annual trip to Texas, which they completed over 18 times.
Wilbert was a proud family man, a great husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa, and will be greatly missed at their annual Father's Day Pizza Hut Buffet which has become a treasured family tradition.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, St. Henry.
