Johann Klein
Johann Klein age 89 of New Bremen, OH, died on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 8:50 A.M. at the Otterbein Retirement Community of St. Marys.
He was born on March 22, 1927 in Ober-Eidisch, Romania. He was the son of the late Johann Sr. and Katharina (Emrick) Klein. On November 28, 1953 he married Mary Brueggeman who survives near New Bremen.
Also surviving is his sister Katharina (Allen) Sandkuhl of St. Marys; his children Robert and Brenda Klein of St. Marys, Carol and Bernhard Deeg of Carroll, OH, Donald and Deb Klein of New Bremen, and Joyce and Dale Evers of Bryant, IN; his grandchildren Megan (Ryan) Klein Wendel, Joe (Dena) Huff, Kevin (Celissa) Huff, Rev. Gretchen (John Sauter) Deeg, Konrad Deeg, Michael (Beth) Klein, Emily (Kendall) Willrath, Adam Evers, Amanda Evers, twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Klein emigrated from Austria to the United States on March 15, 1952 and became a United States Citizen in May of 1958.
He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen. He also was a member of the New Bremen Historic Association, the Auglaize Co. Farm Bureau, and the St. Marys Lienen Friendship Association.
He had been a 4-H advisor for a number of years. Mr. Klein was engaged in farming his entire life and had worked and retired from the former STAMCO of New Bremen after 25 years.
Funeral Services will be on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen with the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial will follow in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen, and on Thursday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the church memorial fund or the National Parkinson's Foundation.
