Redskins earn wins in MAC girls and boys golf action; Minster defeats Coldwater

The persistent rain didn't keep the golfers away as the Mercer County Elks hosted a trio of Midwest Athletic Conference matches on Monday.
In the lone girls' conference match at the Elks, St. Henry defeated Marion Local 202-295.
The Redskins' Carina Clune was match medalist, posting the only sub-50 score of the group with a 49. Allyson Hemmelgarn shot a 50 followed by Kaitlyn Clune (51), Jessica Clune (52), Karlee Staugler (53) and Elizabeth Rockwell (88).
Marah Moeller was the low-shooter for Marion Local with a 58. Chloe Nagel finished with a 70, Macy Spieth an 82 and Kendra Price an 85.
St. Henry travels to Shawnee for non-conference play today. Marion Local is also in action today against Fort Loramie at Arrowhead.

BOYS GOLF
St, Henry 174, Marion Local 226
Seth King earned medalist honors with a 41 and the Redskins opened MAC boys' golf play with a win over the Flyers at the Elks.
King's effort in the rain was just part of a solid day for the top four Redskin golfers. Jack Romer shot a 43, while Ryan Grieshop and Lucas Grieshop carded matching 45s.
Collin Fleck led Marion Local with a 46. Tim Knapshaeffer finished with a 56, Garrett Pleiman had a 59 and Jack Bohman shot a 65.
St. Henry also won the JV match 201-282. Reed Koesters led the Redskins with a medalist round of 47.
St. Henry hosts Fort Recovery on Thursday in MAC play at the Elks. Marion plays Coldwater at the same site on the same day.

Jordan Brackman's 42 was good enough for medalist honors as the Wildcats beat the Cavaliers at the Elks in the conference lidlifter.
Adam Knapke and Logan Lazier each shot a 46 for Minster. Ben Stubbs finished with a 47 and Grant Voisard and Grant Koenig finished with 56 and 57, respectively.
Andrew Fisher led Coldwater with a 52. Trey Wolters, Caden Seitz and Alex Raffel each shot 60 and Michael Schoenherr and Chris Meyer each carded 68s.
Minster hosts Anna at Arrowhead today. Coldwater travels to Arrowhead on Thursday to face New Knoxville.

Matching medalist rounds of 42 from Cole Schoenleben and Clayton Agler led the Panthers to the win over the Rangers at Deerfield.
Mason Baxter added a 44, Ashton Hamrick finished with a 56 and Jack Wehe and Andy Metz shot 57 and 71, respectively
Ray Newton led New Knoxville with a 49 and Nick Thobe carded a 51. Nate Timmerman shot a 55, Robert Egbert a 56, Corey Kuck a 61 and Ben Menke a 71 for the Rangers.

The Indians dropped their MAC opener to the Blue Jays on Monday morning at Delphos Country Club.
Austin Faller led Fort Recovery with a 46. Calvin Rammel and Austin Pohl each shot a 48 and Grant Knapke carded a 50.
Fort Recovery faces St. Henry on Thursday at the Elks.

NEW BREMEN - A variety of entertainment and activities will be among the highlights of the 2016 Bremenfest celebration.
The festival starts with a family movie night on Thursday. Bremenfest continues through Sunday, with the Bremenfest parade stepping off at 1 p.m. Sunday.
CELINA - With a veteran group of runners back for 2016, Celina cross country coach Dan Otten has high expectations, in not only the WBL but also the postseason as Celina drops back to Division II.
COLDWATER - Coldwater will split its cross country-coaching duties this season. Marty Schoenherr, who has been head coach for the previous four seasons, will serve as coach for the boys' squad. Pete Lisi will lead the ladies.
FORT RECOVERY - The Fort Recovery girls believe they have a chance at reaching the state meet with the newly expanded meet qualifiers.

Even though the boys team has just two letterwinners returning, the Cavaliers have depth and some improving younger players that will look to find roles on the varsity six.

It's slightly different in 2016 with just a handful of returnees on both sides.
MARIA STEIN - Sixteen players are out for the Marion Local boys golf team.

And the Flyer teams are hopeful they can post some low numbers on the courses this season.
