Rita E. Travis age 85 of Sidney, Ohio formerly of Minster and Dayton, Ohio passed away on January 20, 2017 at LanePark Assisted Living, Sidney, Ohio.

She was born on March 28, 1931 in Dayton Ohio to the late T. Gerald & Beatrice (Fitzmartin) Davis. She married Thomas N. Travis on May 29, 1953 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Dayton, Ohio. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2015.

She is survived by children: Paula & Paul Wehner, Kettering, Ohio, Shari & Ken Merrill, Marietta, GA, Tom & Tina Travis, New Bremen, Ohio, Therese & Jay Brown, Minster, Ohio, Joe & Heather Travis, Beavercreek, Ohio and John Paul & Lisa Travis, Centerville. Ohio, 21 grandchildren & 16 great grandchildren, brother: Ted Davis, Dayton, sister: Carol & Jim Rochford, Stallings, NC, in-laws: Marjorie Ditzel, Concord, CA, and sister-in-law Joni Travis, Cuyahoga Falls.

She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster. She was a 1949 graduate of Julianne High School, Dayton. She was a longtime member of the World Apostolate of Fatima, St. Thérése Study Circle and the Right to Life Movement.

Rita had worked at Malone Camera, Dayton and later in life at the Marianist Mission, Dayton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at St. Augustine Catholic Church with Rev. Rick Nieberding celebrant. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Dayton.

Friends may call at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM on Wednesday, January 25.
