Deputies arrest area man on felony drug charge

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP - An Ohio City man was arrested Monday on a drug charge after an investigation into a report of a suspicious person.
Shane Richard Burk, 47, of 15921 state Route 709, lot 58, has been arrested and faces a fifth-degree felony charge of possession of drugs. He was listed in the Mercer County jail this morning after bond had been set at $150,000 in Celina Municipal Court.
Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said in a news release that a Washington Township resident at 9:37 a.m. had reported a suspicious male in a truck in the resident's driveway.
Deputies and a Coldwater Police Department officer responded. Upon arrival, they found Burk to be disoriented and unaware of his surroundings, the release stated. Officers discovered the vehicle was not registered to Burk, and they were unable to contact the registered owner.
Deputies called a wrecker to tow the truck from the scene. When it was moved, baggies reportedly containing methamphetamines were found, according to the release.
The case is being sent to the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office for review of additional charges.
Grey stressed the importance of citizens calling his office with information.
"This is a perfect example of a vigilant citizen and his deputies working together. We will continue our efforts to combat the drug problem and we appreciate the assistance of our citizens," he said in the release.
