Wilma Lammers
Wilma A. Lammers, 95, of New Knoxville, died 3:15 A.M. Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Saint Marys Living Center.
She was born July 17, 1921, the daughter of William and Dora Anna (Schroer) Schmidt. She married Lewis H. Lammers on December 4, 1942, and they resided on the family farm. He preceded her in death on June 16, 1989.
Wilma is survived by two sons: Tom (Peggy) Lammers of Paynesville, Minnesota; Ted (Carolyn) Lammers of New Knoxville; a daughter, Patricia Tippie of Saint Marys. She is survived by 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lewis Lammers; three brothers; four sisters; one granddaughter and one great-grandson.
She graduated from New Knoxville High School, and she was confirmed at First Church of New Knoxville, where she has been a lifelong member. She was very active in the church, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many, many years. She helped with Catechism, and served on women's groups and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Wilma was always a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved her family and the Church with all her heart. She always had a kindness about her and a warm smile for everyone she met. She loved animals and her favorite pastimes were spent with her embroidery, quilting, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the First Church of New Knoxville, the Reverend Joel Bucklin, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday in the Ministry Center of the First Church of New Knoxville, where memorial gifts may be given to either First Church Radio Broadcast Fund or Grand Lake Hospice.
