Ernest Nieport
Ernest "Ernie" R. Nieport, age 62, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, in Emporia, Kansas.
He was born on December 29, 1954, in Coldwater, Ohio, the son of Anthony & Dolores (Abels) Nieport.
His mother survives in St. Henry. Also surviving are two sons, Doug, Huber Heights, and Brian, Newport, Kentucky. He is survived by siblings Sharon (Steve) Heitbrink, St. Sebastian; Steven (Lucy Ann Alig) St. Henry; Janet (Bob) Heeke, High Springs, Florida; Judith (Ron) McCoy, Emporia, Kansas; and Jerry, St. Henry, along with several nieces and nephews.
Ernie was preceded in death by his father, Anthony.
Ernie was a graduate of St. Henry H.S. He worked for many years at Crown Control and in more recent years traveled the country as an expediting driving, a job that gave him more of the freedom he loved. Ernie was a member of and a past president of the Wendelin Sports Club, and was active with the Cub Scouts when his boys were young. He enjoyed camping and cycling for many years and participated in the GOBA bike ride for several years.
A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, July 2, from 1:00 to 4:00 at Romer's Catering Party Room in St. Henry.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, contributions in Ernie's memory can be made to The Wendelin Sports Club or the St. Peter Neurological Center in Burkettsville.
