Gene Roediger
Gene A. Roediger age 77 of rural New Bremen, died on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at 5:30 A.M. at his residence.
He was born on July 4, 1939 in New Knoxville to the late Elmer W. and Geraldine E. (Fledderjohann) Roediger. On April 18, 1959 he married Grace E. Settlage in New Knoxville, and she survives.
Also surviving are their children Barbara (Dean) Phipps, and David (Anita) Roediger, all of New Bremen, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Gene was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law Carl (Melba) Roediger.
Gene was a life-long member of First Church of New Knoxville. He was a 1957 graduate of New Bremen High School. He worked at the former STAMCO of New Bremen, and later was engaged in farming. He ran a dairy operation, and later he operated a chicken layer house for Cooper Farms. He also was a seed dealer for 37 years for several companies.
He was a member of the Auglaize County Farm Bureau, the 69'ers farm bureau council, and enjoyed playing cards. Gene loved to travel, and especially enjoyed Hawaii, and many cruises with Grace, family, and friends over the years. He was a NASCAR fan, liked to attend tractor pulls, and enjoyed watching basketball, and watching western movies.
Funeral Services to honor his life will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. at the First Church of New Knoxville, with Pastor Joel Bucklin officiating. Interment will follow in the Evangelical Protestant Cemetery in New Knoxville.
Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017 from 2:00 until 4:00, and 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the Ministry Center at First Church of New Knoxville, and one hour prior to the services at the church on Friday.
Memorial contributions in memory of Gene can be made to the First Church of New Knoxville Radio Fund.
