Elizabeth Belna
Elizabeth J. "Betty" Belna, 90, of Rockford, Ohio, died Sunday evening July 2, 2017, at the Laurels of Shane Hill.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio on March 16, 1927, the daughter of Sylvester and Julia (Kasechak) Barna. On December 30, 1954, she married George Belna, and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2001.
Betty had worked at CTS in Berne, Indiana, for many years. After retiring from there, she also worked at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Rockford, and was the oldest member of the church; she also was a member of St. Teresa Sodality and a member of the Rockford Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary, Shanes Aerie #1292. Betty loved playing bingo - it was her favorite pastime, except for spending time with her family - and she especially loved her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and everything in which they participated.
Surviving Betty are three sons: Rick (Joyce) Belna of Pataskala, Ohio; Larry (Carmi) Belna of Zionsville, Indiana, and Rob (Nancy) Belna of Rockford, Ohio; seven grandchildren: Mike (Tanya) Belna, Bambi (Mark) Watson, Nicolas Belna, Katie Belna, Sarah Belna, Jordan (Heidi) Belna, and Alissa (Tyler) Muhlenkamp. Also surviving are four great grandchildren: Bannon, Brycen, and Baelin Watson, and Avery Elizabeth Belna.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Rockford, with The Rev. Ken Alt officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call on Wednesday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home in Rockford from 2-8 p.m. A wake service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Masses may be directed to St. Teresa Church.
