Marjorie Houts
Marjorie L. Houts, age 85, of Celina transitioned to eternity with the Lord Jesus Christ on Friday, July 7, 2017 at Briarwood Village in Coldwater, Ohio.
She was born January 22, 1932, in Celina to Donald and Bertha (Becher) Stephenson and on July 27, 1952, she married Elden Houts, who survives near Celina.
She is survived by her children, Keith (Beth) Houts, Celina, Christopher (Vickie) Houts, Columbus and Mark (Michelle) Houts, Celina; 10 grandchildren, Michael Houts, Bethany (Chad) Eckard, Emily (Rob) Meyers, Laura Houts (fiancé Rick Leeman), Brian (Carrie) Houts, Ethan (Rebecca) Houts, Erinn (Weston) Young, Olivia (Paul) Keener, Seth (Tessa) Houts, Margaret Houts; 8 great grandchildren, Cana, Elin, Abram & Gwenyth Eckard, Evelyn & Roman Meyers, Jack Keener, and Isaac Houts; one brother, Chester Stephenson; sisters-in-law Wilma Houts and Velone (Don) Kable; and many nieces and nephews.
Marjorie is preceded in death by a son Timothy Houts, a granddaughter Jillianne Houts, and by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marjorie Brown Stephenson, John & Ruth Houts, Dale & Helen Houts, Lucille & Lyle Hamilton, Calvin Houts, and Don & Ruth Raudabaugh.
She was a 1950 graduate of Center Township High School, Neptune, Ohio where she was the valedictorian of her class. Marjorie went on to graduate from St. Louis Institute of Music, and taught piano and organ for many years.
Marjorie attended Mt. Tabor Church of God, was a member of the Celina History Club, Women's Christian Service Council, was a past member of the Celina First Church of God, and a past board member of Winebrenner Village in Findlay, Ohio.
She greatly enjoyed music, especially playing the organ & piano. She was very active at church teaching Sunday school and Bible school, singing in choir, and assisting with hospitality.
Visitation hours will be from 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 am on Tuesday morning at Mt. Tabor Church of God with Rev. Richard VanHorn officiating and Rev. Darwin Dunten assisting. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at North Grove Cemetery in Celina.
Memorial contributions can be made to American Cancer Society and/or American Macular Degeneration Foundation.
