Theckla Hoying
Theckla J. (Hoelscher) Hoying, age 79, Jackson Center, Ohio, passed away of natural causes at her residence following a brief illness, early Thursday morning, August 3, 2017.
She was born October 25, 1937, in Yorkshire, Ohio, to the late Clem and Mary (Grieshop) Hoelscher. On June 19, 1957, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Osgood, Theckla married Ludwig R. Hoying who survives.
Also surviving are four sons: Douglas H. & Carol Hoying of Jackson Center, Scott & Marjorie Hoying of Botkins, Eric & Kym Hoying of Fort Loramie and Mitchell Hoying of Lewistown; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; eight siblings: Mildred Frilling of St. Henry, Julia Pleiman of Fort Loramie, Theresa Pleiman of Newport, Richard Hoelscher of Osgood, Henry & Faye Hoelscher of Tipton, IN, Rosalee & Paul Holdheide of Maria Stein, Peg & Jim Snider of Jackson Center and Joyce Liette of Versailles; brothers & sisters-in-law: Joe Romer of St. Henry, Kathy Hoelscher of Yorkshire, Linda & Robert Schwegman of Celina, Jack McClelland of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Ann Hoying of Fort Loramie, Lucille Hoying of Wapakoneta, Lois Hoying of Sidney, Norris Monnier of Russia along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three siblings: Patricia Romer, Victor and John Hoelscher; brothers & sisters-in-law: Romie Frilling, Carl and Elton Pleiman, Doris and Patricia Hoelscher, Michael Liette, Alma McClelland, Robert Hoying, Dorothy Hoying, James Kerber, Paul & Marjorie Hoying, Ruth Monnier, Cliff and Thomas Hoying.
Theckla was a 1955 graduate of Minster High School. She co-owned and operated Hoying's Marathon in Jackson Center with her husband Lud for nearly 30 years. She primarily managed book keeping along with the gas pumps.
Theckla had also been a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the Jackson Center Senior Citizens. Years ago she had been active in Fort Loramie School parent organizations. In her leisure, Teck enjoyed flower gardening and following her grandchildren's sporting events.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Monday, August 7, 2017, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in McCartyville with Rev. Stephen Mondiek presiding. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Monday 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the church gathering room.
