Wanda Dieringer
Wanda Madge (Grimm) Dieringer, 93, died at 6:00 a.m, on Friday, September 22, 2017, in Kissimmee, Florida.
Wanda was born on August 7, 1924, in Rockford, Ohio, to Barnett R. Grimm and Margaret (Springer) Grimm who preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death are: Husband William Dieringer, grandson, Chris Hall, two brothers - Nelson Grimm, and J.P. Grimm, two sisters - Janie Carnes, and Bette Macias, and a son-in-law, Russell Hall.
Madge graduated from Celina High School as a double star thespian, by writing and producing a play. During her high school years she was a clerk and meat cutter at a local grocery store on her noon hour and after school. She also worked nights selling tickets and renting out skates at the Celina Roller Rink.
Madge was a graduate of Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. She then earned her Masters in Education from the University of Dayton. She taught at St. Henry Jr. High School and at the Elida Middle School (7th grade). She also taught English at Northwestern Business School in Lima, now UNOH.
The Sister Cities Program was initiated by her 7th grade students and their connections to a New York Jr. High School student and her teacher. She helped found the Cheryl Ann School in Mercer County. She would pick the students up, take them to school, and deliver them back to their homes.
She was a member of the Ohio Retired Teachers Association, the Allen County Retired Teachers Association, was a Life Member of the National Education Association (NEA). She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Lima.
She leaves her son, Monte (Darlene) Dieringer, of Scottsdale, AZ, a daughter, Connie Dieringer Hall, of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren, Jodi Mathieson, of Scottsdale, AR, Josh Dieringer, of Parker, CO, Kellie Richards, of Kissimmee, FL, and Eric Ray Hall, of Kissimmee, FL; great grandchild, Sydnie Mathieson, of Scottsdale, AR, Logan Mathiesen, of Scottsdale, AR, Charlie Dieringer, of Parker, CO, Rachel Dieringer, of Parker, CO, Kolton Richards, of Kissimmee, FL, and Kamryn Richards, of Kissimmee, FL.
The family will receive friends 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, September 29, 2017 at Chamberlain-Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima, Ohio.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 30, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Lima. Interment will be in North Grove Cemetery, Celina, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family, in care of Monte Dieringer and Connie Hall.
