Lorena Elizabeth Vagedes, age 90 of Coldwater, died Saturday, September 30, 2017 at her home.

She was born March 4, 1927 in Eygpt, to the late Anthony & Josephine (Dahlinghaus) Heitbrink. On October 22, 1949 she married Arthur John Vagedes at St. John's Church, Maria Stein and he died December 25, 2004.

She is survived by her children, Mary Jo & Carl Zepeda of Rockford, Eric & Edit Vagedes of Paragon, IN, Margaret & James Will of Ft. Recovery, Gerald & Mary Vagedes of Coldwater, David Vagedes of Ft. Recovery and friend Joan Bollenbacher of Minster, and Frank & Carol Vagedes of Ft. Recovery; 35 grandchildren; 68 great grandchildren; in-laws, Mary Heitbrink of Dayton and Bertha Heitbrink of Maria Stein and in-laws Lavern Vagedes, and Rose Ann & Dennis Garman.

She is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Margaret Vagedes and great-grand-daughter Bella Zepeda; and siblings Isabel & Linus Heuker, Cornelius Heitbrink, Mary Ann & James Vehorn, Cletus & Velma Heitbrink, Thomas & Betty Heitbrink and Harold Heitbrink and in-laws Rita & Joseph Sutter, Paul Vagedes and Helen Vagedes.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Philothea, a choir member for many years and also belonged to the Ladies Rosary Altar Sodality. She was a member of the Relic Chapel Adoration Guild, helped with the annual Peace Pilgrimage at the Relic Chapel as well as the Relic Chapel Preservation Group, promoted the Radio Rosary on WCSM and the First Saturday Devotion at St. Charles Center. She volunteered at the St. Peter Neurological Center for several years.

Lorena was a homemaker and a part-time furniture upholsterer. She also enjoyed making brown scapulars and mission rosaries.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at St. Mary Church, Philothea. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 pm on Tuesday and 9 to 10 am Wednesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.
