Lola Shopp
Lola L. Shopp, 88, New Knoxville, died 12:40 A.M. Saturday, November 25, 2017, at Dorothy Love Retirement Community in Sidney.
She was born June 29, 1929, in Van Buren Township, Shelby County, Ohio, the daughter of Lewis and Luetta (Henkener) Kipp. She married Harold Shopp on October 30, 1948, in New Knoxville, and he preceded her in death on May 15, 1996.
She is survived by her children: William (Sandie) Shopp of Salado, Texas; Ted Shopp of Botkins; Karen (John) Roop of Brookville, Indiana. She is survived by her four grandchildren: Ryan (Kristin) Shopp of San Francisco, CA; Gregg (Jill) Thompson of Fort Loramie, Ohio; Keith (Tina) Thompson of New Knoxville; Brandon (Autumn) Shopp of Cedar Park, Texas. She is survived by her nine great-grandchildren: Travis Shopp; Savannah Shopp; Avery Shopp; Tristan Thompson; Natalie Thompson; Lola Thompson; Julia Thompson; Kelly Thompson; Colton Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband, Harold; by her siblings: Lillian Motsinger; Eldred "Bud" Kipp; Louella Kipp; Helen Kipp.
Lola attended the Kettlersville Grade School for eight years, and was a 1947 graduate of Anna High School. She had been a school cook at New Knoxville School for many years, and also at the Joint Township District Memorial Hospital cafeteria. She assisted in the operation of the family farm alongside her husband, and with his seed business.
She was a lifelong member of the First Church of New Knoxville, where she had taught Sunday School and was a member of the Womens' Guild of the church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and cooking, and she lived her entire life in a one square mile area of Van Buren Township.
Funeral rites will be held 10:30 A.M. Friday, December 1, 2017, at the First Church of New Knoxville, the Reverend Joel Bucklin, officiant. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-7 P.M. Thursday in the Heritage Room of the First Church of New Knoxville, where memorial gifts may be given to Agape Ministries, or Miami County Hospice.
