Thomas Willhoff Sr.
Thomas L. Willhoff, Sr. passed away on February 1, 2018 at Coldwater Community Hospital.
He was born on March 22, 1930 in Coldwater to Othmar A. and Dolores Romer Willhoff. On June 3, 1952 he married Joan H. Maher of St. Marys who passed away on June 13, 2015. They were married 63 years.
  Survivors are six children, Thomas Jr. (Linda), Middletown, Steven, Nevada, Jacki, Illinois, Ronald (Dianne), Illinois, Sandra, Cincinnati, and Michael, Illinois. Four grandchildren, Leanne (Barry) Miller, Andreas (Jessica) Willhoff, Zachary (Catherine) Willhoff, and Natasha Willhoff. Two step-grand sons Pete Snodgrass and Michael (Erica) Snodgrass. Two great-grandchildren children Benjamin Cook and Adelynn Miller and three step-great-grandchildren Brooklynn, Brighton and Brady Snodgrass. Also surviving are in-laws Joe Alexander, Mark and Barbara Maher, Patsy Maher, Barbara and Bill Gilbertson, and Ray and Kay Maher, and several nieces and nephews. Also deceased are in-laws Jean Alexander and Robert Maher.
He graduated from Coldwater High School in 1948 and graduated with Distinction from Purdue University in 1952 with a degree in Civil Engineering. At Purdue he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, Engineering Honorary and Chi Epsilon, Civil Engineering Honorary. He served in the Navy in 1952-1954 as a Lt. JG on the USS Navarro (APA-215). After his naval service, he worked for the Ohio Highway Department starting in July of 1954 in Newark, Ohio. He was a Project Engineer on several highway projects including one of the first Interstate contracts. He became a Registered Professional Engineer in Ohio while working for the Highway Department on the I-70 project. Starting in March of 1960 he worked for Armco Steel Corporation in Middletown, Ohio in Marketing. In late 1965 he was transferred to Kansas City, MO. As Senior Marketing Specialist. In late 1967 he was transferred back to Middletown with additional responsibilities as Manager of Marketing Services. In 1979 he was transferred to St. Charles, IL as General Manager of Sales of Armco Composites. In 1985 Armco sold the firm to Owens-Corning Fiberglass. In early 1987 the firm was sold to British Petroleum Chemicals. He retired in mid 1990. He enjoyed seeing his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in many athletic competitions and also scholastic events. He was a much loved Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and spending winters with Joan at their condo in Florida. He was also a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals and the Purdue Boilermakers. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, the Mercer County Elks, and the Coldwater American Legion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater. Burial with military rites will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 pm Tuesday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Coldwater.   
Memorials may be made to the Center for Neurological Development in Burkettsville.
