Semi rollover crash

A tractor-trailer driver and passenger refused medical care Wednesday afternoon after an accident on U.S. 33 just south of Rockford. The driver, Paul L. Grimmett, 46, Columbus, reportedly lost control while westbound just after 4 p.m. The rig moved into the eastbound lane, and Grimmett overcorrected and drove off the pavement on the right side of the road, according to a Mercer County Sheriff's report. The soft ground and the angle of the ditch caused the truck to overturn and strike a utility pole. The 2018 Freightliner is owned by Venture Logistics, Indianapolis. Both Grimmett and passenger Tammy S. Hodges, 45, Columbus, refused medical care. Mercer County sheriff's deputies, Celina Rescue and Rockford Fire Department personnel responded to the scene.
