Esther Johnsman
Esther C. Johnsman, age 90, of Celina, passed away Thursday evening, March 15, 2018, at the Miller Place in Celina.
She was born July 8, 1927, in Sharpsburg, a daughter of
Aloysius Charles & Caroline Johanna (Kunkler) Guggenbiller.
Esther and Arnold A. Johnsman were married on October 29, 1949, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2007. Their daughter, Doris Goettemoeller, passed away January 13, 2012.
Surviving are 2 sons & a daughter: Paul (Jayne) Johnsman of Celina,
Bill (Karen) Johnsman of Englewood, and Patty (Wayne) Baucher of Celina; and son-in-law, Charlie Goettemoeller, of Coldwater. Esther leaves behind 12 grandchildren: Adam (Julie) Johnsman, Audrey (Travis) Nuttle, Brian (Anya) Johnsman, Brad Johnsman, Brent (Amanda) Johnsman, Megan (J.V.) Fritz, Lynn (Nathan) Burtch, Amy (Brent) Roth, Claudia Goettemoeller, Lucas Bonifas, Cory (Jayme) Bonifas and Cassie Bonifas; 16 great grandchildren: Chloe, Gavin, Ariel & Dylan, Hunter & Levi, Kodie, Kyan, Mariah, Bryce & Destiny,
Wyatt, Samantha & Izzie, and Aiden & Kirra; and 2 great grandchildren on the way. Also surviving are Esther's brothers & sisters: Mildred "Millie" Broering of Maria Stein, Rita Bertke of Centerville, Ralph (Connie) Guggenbiller and Robert (Lillian) Guggenbiller of Fort Recovery; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Johnsman, of Celina.
Esther was also preceded in death by grandsons: Gene Goettemoeller and Christopher Johnsman, brothers: Gregory and Victor Guggenbiller, brothers & sisters-in-law: Cyril "Cy" Broering, Ernest Bertke, Clarence (Verona) Johnsman, Lawrence (Pauline) Johnsman, Richard, Dorothy, Martha Jean and Leroy Johnsman, and Edith (Charles) Backs.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Celina, and the Altar Rosary Society. She and her husband Arnold sang with the church Resurrection Choir. Esther had served as a housecleaner at the parish rectory for many years. Esther was a wonderful cook, and was devoted to her family. A devout Catholic, Esther loved the Lord, and spent much time in prayer, especially saying the rosary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 20, at Immaculate Conception Church in Celina, with Fr. Vince Wirtner, C.PP.S., presiding. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery in Celina.
Calling Hours are at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, March 19, and also 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, prior to the procession to church for the service. Memorial Contributions may be made for Masses.
