Fort Recovery's Robby LeFevre, lane 4, cruises to victory in the 100-meter dash at the 2018 Mercer County Knights of Columbus Track and Field Meet in Coldwater. LeFevre had wins in three events on Thursday.

COLDWATER - Celina's Tyler Ross broke a 39 year-old record in the discus, Fort Recovery's Robby LeFevre shined in the sprints, and the Coldwater girls ended Celina's championship run as the Mercer County Knights of Columbus Track and Field Meet concluded on Thursday at Cavalier Stadium.
Ross won last year's county title with a throw of 139-2 3/4 and had yet to top 155 in his career.
That changed on Thursday as he unleashed a throw of 163-3 - breaking the record of St. Henry's Tim Braun that had stood since 1979.
"In practice, I've done it. But I had yet to do it in a meet," said Ross, who came within three feet of Celina's all-time record.
At the end of the night, Ross posed for a picture with Braun, who coaches the St. Henry throwers. Ross hopes Thursday's performance is a sign of things to come.
"I know I've got a lot more in me and it's just a stepping stone into what I think I can do in the future, at the WBL meet and at state if I'm able to make it," said Ross, who also claimed the shot put title on Tuesday.
"He crushed his PR and was just a few feet off our school record," Celina coach Eric Wagner said. "It was a phenomenal throw. He fought hard to stay in. When you get your momentum going that fast, a kid like him being able to fight through that, that was a well-earned county record. He's ready for good things to happen."
Celina won the team title in landslide fashion, tallying 190 points. Marion Local was runner-up (92), Coldwater was third (74), Fort Recovery fourth (64), Parkway fifth (48) and St. Henry sixth (44).
Adrian Hurley was also a two-event standout for the Bulldogs, winning the 800 (1:58.43) and the 1,600 (4:35.70).
"He barely missed the meet record," Wagner said of Hurley. "He went out and ran a great race. He went out perfect, came back and was two seconds slower on the second lap. He cruised through the mile. He was very impressive in that as well. He's battling through some things. He's not as in shape as he could be, but he's getting there."
Conner Mills (17.68) and Chase Stephens (17.98) finished first and second in the 110 hurdles. Mills captured a second title in the 300 hurdles (41.58). Kyle Flaute won the long jump with a mark of 20-6 1/2.
First-year runner Kole Murlin placed second in the 400 (52.28) and second in the 200 (23.53). Murlin also ran legs on the winning 4x200 and 4x400 teams. Flaute, Blake Germann and Mills ran on the 4x200 team. Flaute, Mills and Hurley were all featured on the 4x400 team. Remington Hill took second in the 100 (11.69).
LeFevre - a state placer in his first two seasons for the Indians - set the 200 record in the prelims on Tuesday with a time of 22.59. He cruised to victory in the event on Thursday with a time of 22.65. to go along with his win in the 100 (11.32).
LeFevre also served as anchor on the winning 4x100 relay team (45.02). Riley Pearson, Jacob Acheson and Brayden Schoen manned the first three legs in the event. Pearson, Jared Timmerman, Schoen and LeFevre were second in the 4x200 relay (1:33.70).
LeFevre added county titles seven, eight and nine this week.
"We're much better this season," LeFevre said. "At this point last season, we had guys running mid-12s and now we've got multiple guys running sub-12s. Our (4x100 relay) is at a 45 and last year, we were at a 46. If we cut a full second, that's a state winning time for sure. Our 4x200 should make state. I don't know where we'd be at in terms of place, but that's still a big thing."
The Indians also finished runner-up in the 4x400 as Owen Moorman, Acheson, Drew Muhlenkamp and Timmerman combined on a time of 3:36.26. Timmerman was also runner-up in the long jump (20-3 3/4).
Marion Local's John Tangeman won the 400 (52.11). Austin Wendel was second in the 300 hurdles (43.05). John Dirksen was runner-up in the discus (147-4).
The Flyers' 4x100 team of Luke Schwieterman, Tanner Ungruhn, Dalton Goubeaux and Caleb Bruns finished runner-up (46.11).
Parkway's Matt Gaerke (10:17.43) and Kyle Roth (10:41.74) went 1-2 in the 3,200. Gaerke also placed runner-up in the 1,600 (4:39.91).

GIRLS
Coldwater coach Mark Bruns couldn't remember the last time the county title didn't belong to the Celina girls.
Well, the Cavaliers have the trophy in their hands after Thursday.
Coldwater held a slim advantage on Celina going into the 4x400 relay race, the final event of the day. Kourtney Diller, Sara Honigford, Beth Honigford and Savannah Seibert won the race in a time of 4:10.85 to wrap up the title.
Celina was runner-up with 114, Marion Local placed third (75 1/2), Parkway fourth (74), St. Henry fifth (70 1/2) and Fort Recovery sixth (67).
"It's an awesome feeling for the girls just because they've been working so hard," Bruns said. "We got enough girls out this year, which was a big get for us. Having the people to be able to do it was huge. You can't do it without the right people. The girls just really dug in. They've been really kind of building throughout the year and they're peaking at the right time."
The Cavaliers' 4x100 relay team of Mallory Kremer, Katie Alig, Shelby Giere and Erin Kremer was second (53.20).
Erin Kremer won the high jump with a mark of 5-0. Jessica Break won the pole vault with a 10-4. Alig was the champion in the shot (33-6 1/4).
Coldwater's Savannah Seibert took second in the 300 hurdles (47.92). Mallory Kremer was second in the 100 (13.64). Courtney Bye was runner-up in the 3,200 (12:41.81).
"Katie Alig in the shot put, Jessica Break in the pole vault, Erin Kremer in the high jump - all finished first place and some were PRs," Bruns said. "Savanah Seibert always does well for us in the 300 hurdles. Our relays are really good because we've got some depth this year. Our relays all placed really well. Our 4x400 almost broke a record that was set in 1989. They missed it by .8."
Lauren Jackson was a multiple-event winner for Celina. She captured the 800 title (22:22.77) and the 1,600 (5:34.27).
"Jackson is just a tough competitor all around," Wagner said. "She doesn't except not having your 100 percent effort. She went out and ran a great 800 right after a very good mile, which she kind of cruised through. She relaxed a little bit at the end in the mile but still came back strong in the 800."
Celina's Emma Lutz took second in the 1,600 (5:37.89). Celina's Makenna Klingshirn was second in the 100 hurdles (16.94).
Celina's 4x400 relay group of Klingshirn, Sara Wenning, Kenzie Conn and Jackson placed second (4:18.56). Natalie Schrolucke was second in the shot (32-9).
Parkway's Sydney Crouch added wins in the 400 (59.97 seconds) and 200 (26.57 to go along with her win on Tuesday in the long jump (17-9 1/2).
"I'm pretty happy," Crouch said. "I PR'd in the 200. I long jumped Tuesday, but that was the best I've done all season. In the 400, I was just 0.2 seconds off my PR. I'm also so proud of my 4x400 team (placing third). We PR'd by about five seconds."
Another highlight for the Panthers was Rachel Barrett, who won the 100 in a time of 13.47 seconds.
Marion Local's Kylie Albers won the 300 hurdles (47.59) and placed second in the 200 (27.34). Teammate Aubrey Thobe was first in the 100 hurdles (16.82). Albers, Natalie Rethman, Brooke Homan and Becca Rindler won the 4x100 title (52.67). The Flyers' 4x200 team of Homan, Rethman, Thobe and Albers won (1:51.43).
St. Henry's Alexis Heath was runner-up in the 800 (2:28.43). Marlee Vaughn was second in the high jump (4-10). Jessica Langenkamp took silver in the pole vault (9-6).
Fort Recovery's Chloe Will won the 3,200 (12:31.05). Fort Recovery's Cassidy Martin was runner-up in the 400 (1:00.52).
