* WHEN...Until noon EST Saturday.
* IMPACTS...The cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure.

Marcella Smerik

Marcella "Sally" Smerik, 97, of Celina, Ohio, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford, Ohio, where she was on hospice care following a stroke.

She was born in Celina, Ohio, on September 16, 1920, the daughter of Floyd and Nora (Hone) Felver. A graduate of Celina High School and a registered nurse, she married Frank Smerik on January 8, 1944. Frank preceded her in death in 1999.

She was a nurse, homemaker, and worked beside Frank farming their land. She attended Grace Missionary Church in Celina, Ohio for many years.

Surviving are five daughters: Karen (Eldon) Gerber of Kidron, Ohio; Sandy (Russ) Voorhees of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; Miriam (Randy) Zacharias of Celina, Ohio; Becky (Lloyd) Sarasin of Celina, Ohio and Jan (Doug) Teeple of Hudsonville, Michigan. She has 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, Ohio. Burial will follow at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, Ohio.

Viewing will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to State of the Heart Hospice, Coldwater, Ohio.
