Mary Mohrman
Mary Anna Mohrman, 82, of Seattle, died at 9:30 A.M. on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at the Celina Manor.
She was born on September 22, 1936 in New Bremen, the daughter of the late Elmer H. and Hemine W. (Topp) Mohrman Obringer.
She is survived by a brother John (Carol) Mohrman of New Bremen, and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her siblings: Ruth Obringer, Herman Mohrman, Earl Mohrman, Paul Mohrman, Leroy Obringer, and Alvin Obringer.
Mary attended St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen, where she was baptized and confirmed. She was a 1954 graduate of New Bremen High School, and she went on to study law at UCLA and graduated from Washington State University.
Mary began to lose her sight in her teenage years, but being the strong-willed and independent person that she was, she picked up her life and moved to Los Angeles where she lived for several years before moving to Seattle.
In Seattle she was a social worker, and later worked for Lighthouse for the Blind, doing subcontracted work for Boeing. She volunteered with a library in Seattle, and also hosted a radio show on Evergreen Radio.
She had been an accomplished member of the Toastmasters, having won several awards. She also enjoyed playing the piano and listening to "Jeopardy" on TV.
Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen with Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Inurnment will take place in the German Protestant Cemetery of New Bremen.
Calling Hours will be held on Sunday from 1:00 until 3:00 P.M. at the church.
Memorial contributions in memory of Mary can be made St. Paul United Church of Christ or to the Retinitus Pigmentosa Foundation.
