Irene Kinkley
Irene P. Kinkley, 90, of Saint Marys, Ohio, died 10:32 AM. Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community.
She was born April 15, 1928, in St. Henry, Ohio, the daughter of Stanley and Marie (Lange) Romer. She married John W. Kinkley on August 30, 1949, in St. Henry, Ohio; he preceded her in death on December 30, 1998.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Marianne) Kinkley of Wheaton, Illinois; Peg (Chuck) Knueve of Wapakoneta, Ohio; Ann (Mark) Stollenwerk of Hamilton, Ohio; Bill (Ann) Kinkley of Albany, Oregon; Mary (Tim) Gicale of Piqua, Ohio; Nick (Julie) Kinkley of Brownsburg, Indiana; Matt (Nancy) Kinkley of St. Marys, Ohio.
She is also survived by her 24 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. A brother, Joseph Romer, survives in St. Henry, Ohio; her sister-in-law Joan Romer survives in Memphis, Tennessee; Richard Seifried, Xenia, Ohio.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother Loretta (Osterfeld) Romer; husband; a grandson, David Kinkley; her siblings Flora Kohnen; Betty Seifried; Dan Romer and Barb Romer; in-laws Tony Kohnen and Patricia Romer.
Irene was the valedictorian of the class of 1946 at St. Henry High School. She graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1965, and she taught 3rd and 5th grades at East and Moulton Elementary Schools in St. Marys. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, and the Altar Society of the Church. She loved playing bridge and "Combat Scrabble", and was a mentor for students at Holy Rosary School.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 30, 2019, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Father Barry Stechschulte, celebrant. Burial will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5-8 P.M. Friday, March 29, 2019, at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to either the John and Irene Kinkley Scholarship Fund at Rhodes State College, Lima, or to Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Friends may also call from 9:00-10:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
