Celina's Maddy Luebke has been named Western Buckeye League Softball Player of the Year.
The list, voted on by league coaches, was released earlier this week.
Luebke is the first player from Celina to win the league's top honor since 2008, when Laura Homan was named WBL Defensive Player of the Year. Offensive Player of the Year that season went to Bath's Stephanie Sanders.
Luebke, who plays shortstop and pitches, is hitting .464 with four doubles, two triples, five home runs, 21 RBIs and 26 runs scored. The senior has struck out just twice in 69 at-bats. She has pitched 55 2/3 innings and racked up 42 strikeouts with a 5-1 record.
Joining Luebke on the first team from Celina was Emily Keith. Taylor Turner was named second team and Sydney Lehman honorable mention.
St. Marys' Alyssa Alexander received second team while teammates Kiley Tennant (third team) and Karsyn McGlothen (honorable mention) were also honored.
Celina Nicole Driggs shared WBL Coach of the Year honors with Defiance's Dennis Parrish. Both guided their teams to 8-1 records in league play for a championship split.
