Woman struck by ATV dies

By Sydney Albert
CELINA - A Mercer County woman who was injured after having been struck by an all-terrain vehicle has died.
A Miami Valley Hospital representative said on Thursday that Mary J. Stachler, 73, was no longer listed as a patient, and Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey confirmed she had passed away.
Carla Baucher, 28, had been giving her two children a ride on an ATV on Stachler's property. Stachler was Baucher's husband's aunt, according to a news release. Baucher's
21/2-year-old son attempted to exit the ATV and reportedly fell onto the accelerator. The ATV then struck Stachler and crashed into a garage area of the residence. Baucher and her son suffered minor injuries, but were not treated.
The investigation will be reviewed by an out-of-county prosecutor's office for potential charges, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Matthew Fox. Since Baucher is a Mercer County sheriff's deputy, Fox said the investigation would be sent to an independent prosecutor's office to be reviewed for potential charges.
