Huntsville woman discovers ancestors

CELINA - A Huntsville woman's mom told her she could learn everything she needed to know about her family's history by visiting Mercer County.
Compelled to go, Vanessa Hunter planned a trip with her mom, Janice E. Kenner, but her mother died in 2017 before they had the chance, she recently told Mercer County's chapter members of the Ohio Genealogical Society. [More]
Sheriff: Non-lawyer inmate's messages will be monitored

CELINA - Mercer County jail inmates in the coming month or so will have the option to use text messaging services, a potentially less expensive and more convenient alternative to making phone calls.
County commissioners recently approved sheriff Jeff Grey's request to add texting services through the jail's inmate telephone system provider CTEL. Grey said the service will cost the county nothing aside from electricity to charge the texting devices. [More]
