Walter Pearl "Squirrel" Roberts, age 87, of Celina, passed away Monday, February 24, 2020, at his residence.

He was born October 4, 1932, in Owsley County, Kentucky, to Wesley & Myrtle (Johnson) Roberts. In 1948, he married Lula (McIntosh) Roberts, and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are five children: Kay Roberts Cremeans of Portland, IN, Penny Brown of Montezuma, Rick Roberts of Portland, Ginney Griswold of Celina, and Lucy (John) Kinstle of St. Marys. Two sisters, Marlene (Curtis) Hill and Louise (Clifton) Myers, both of Celina, 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces & nephews, also survive.

Preceding him in death were five children: Pauline, Junior, Joyce, Ervin, and Walter Pearl Roberts, a brother, William Roberts, a grandchild, and two great grandchildren.

He moved from Kentucky to Ohio in 1950, and had worked as a picker at the Grand Lake Mushroom Farm in Celina. A "Jack-of-all trades," he had done painting, carpentry, and maintenance work.

Squirrel loved Bluegrass Music, playing his guitars, and spending time with his children. He enjoyed the outdoors, planting his garden, fishing, and avidly watched WWE Friday Night SmackDown Wrestling. He joked around, and loved helping other people by doing odd jobs. Squirrel was a hard worker, an all-around great guy, and always had a joke to tell.

Calling Hours will be held at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, on Thursday, February 27, from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m., followed by the Funeral Service, starting at 2:00. Pastor Steve Clayton will officiate. Burial will follow at Buck Cemetery, near Celina.
