Auglaize County reports changes to services

WAPAKONETA - Auglaize County officials are limiting gathering and physical contact while continuing to provide services.

These actions are effective March 18-April 8.

Administration building

The administration building, 209 S. Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta, is open for scheduled appointments only.

• Employees are continuing to work and provide services through technology.

• Residents should schedule appointments for necessary physical access to the auditor, treasurer, recorder, map office, board of elections, veterans and commissioners offices. If physical access can be postponed, people are asked to do so. Many business activities can be conducted using technology.

• When appointments are needed, officials ask everyone to use social distancing practices.

• A staff member will provide access to the building at the west entrance on the first floor for scheduled appointments. Staff members will stay with the individual and escort that person out of the building once the business is concluded. They will not allow access to anyone who is not scheduled for an appointment.

• Payments for property taxes or dog tags can be made in the drop box in the west parking lot.

• Documents can also be dropped off at the drop box, and staff will deliver them to the appropriate office. People should be sure to include contact information, including name and phone number on any documents being placed in the drop box.

• Mail deliverers must call the county commissioners' office for access to the building.

County commission meetings will continue as scheduled. People wishing to attend should call the commissioner's office and a staff member will meet them at the west entry door to grant access to the building.

Courthouse

The Auglaize County Courthouse, 201 Willipie St., Wapakoneta, is open for scheduled appointments, hearings and trials.

• Employees are continuing to work and provide services through technology.

• Officials are reducing the number of in-person appointments, hearings and trials as much as reasonably possible and encouraging work by telephone, email and videoconference.

• Residents should use technology to communicate as much as possible.

• A large share of court business can be conducted online or by fax. Officials prefer those options at this time.

• If in-person appearance is necessary, social distancing will be used.

Job and Family Services

Auglaize County Job and Family Services, 12 N. Wood St., Wapakoneta, is closed to the public, except for scheduled appointments.

• Employees are continuing to work and to provide services through technology.

• Most JFS services can be conducted by telephone.

• For more information about accessing JFS services, contact the office directly.

• A dropbox has been installed at the JFS building entrance, and items can be dropped off between 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, for the collection of child support payments and other JFS documents.

• In-person meetings with JFS staff are by appointment only.

OhioMeansJobs

The Auglaize County OhioMeansJobs Office, 13093 Infirmary Road, Wapakoneta, is closed to the public, except for scheduled appointments.

• Employees are continuing to work and to provide services through technology.

• Most OhioMeansJobs services can be conducted by telephone.

• The resource room is closed to the public.

• A dropbox has been installed at the OMJ building east elevator entrance, and items can be dropped off from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for the collection of OMJ documents.

• For more information about accessing OMJ services, please contact OMJ or JFS directly.

• In-person meetings with the OMJ office are by appointment only.

Sheriff's Office

The sheriff's office and county jail, 1051 Dearbaugh Ave., Wapakoneta, is open only for necessary law enforcement activity.

• Employees are continuing to work and provide services.

• Visitation at the jail is restricted.

• The sheriff has implemented safe practices to limit contact.

Engineer's office

The county engineer's office, 1014 S. Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta, is closed to the public, except for scheduled appointments.

• Employees are continuing to work in open spaces, at the office and by using technology.

• Meeting activity can be scheduled with social distancing in mind.

Recycling center

The Auglaize County Recycling Center, 15502 St. Marys River Road, St. Marys, is closed to the public.

• Employees are continuing to work in open spaces, at the office and by using technology.

• Residents are encouraged to use local drop-off centers.

Dog pound

Auglaize County Dog Pound, 1001 Fairview Drive, Wapakoneta, is open to the public by appointment only.

• Employees are continuing to work in open spaces, at the office and by using technology.

• The public must schedule an appointment to conduct business with the dog pound.

Neil Armstrong Airport

At the Neil Armstrong Airport, 7776 State Route 219, New Knoxville, all operations are scheduled. Buildings are closed to the public, except for scheduled appointments.

• Contractors and employees are continuing to work in open spaces, at the office and using technology.

• No airport authority meetings are scheduled from March 18-April 8.

Title office

The Auglaize County Title Office, 604½ S. Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta, is open during regular business hours.

• Officials request the public only go to this building only if absolutely necessary.

• Social distancing may mean longer wait times.

• People are asked to call before they come to the building to receive real-time updates.

Municipal Court West

Municipal Court West, 114 N. Main St., St. Marys, is open for scheduled appointments, hearings and trials.

• Employees are continuing to work and provide services using technology.

• Officials are reducing the number of in-person appointments, hearings and trials as much as reasonably possible and encouraging work by telephone, email and videoconference.

• Residents should use technology to communicate as much as possible.

• Much court business can be conducted online or by fax, and officials prefer those options at this time.

• If in-person appearance is necessary, people should remember that social distancing will be used.
