Resurfacing to begin Monday

CELINA - Crews from Shelly Co. of Findlay are expected to begin resurfacing North Main Street on Monday, a week earlier than anticipated, mayor Jeff Hazel said.
Hazel at Monday night's regular council meeting also announced that Dayton Power & Light will carry out necessary emergency maintenance at 12:01 a.m. May 30, which will result in a power outage for up to eight hours. [More]

CELINA - The number of positive coronavirus tests continues to rise in the area, as the Mercer County Health District on Monday reported seven new cases, raising the county's total to 86.

CELINA - City council members on Monday night pulled from the agenda an emergency ordinance granting city safety service director Tom Hitchcock extraordinary powers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
NEW BREMEN - Three village employees have been laid off due to the financial blow from the coronavirus pandemic.
Mayor Robert Parker announced at Monday's village council meeting that cost-cutting measures have forced the layoff of employees in the public works, water and office staff.
COLDWATER - David Penno was appointed fire chief at Monday's village council meeting.
Council members appointed Penno after a 17-minute executive session. He has been with the fire department since 2008 and an officer for the last five years. He will receive $2,000 per year for the position.
