Parkway to hold 3 parades for seniors

By Leslie Gartrell
ROCKFORD - Parkway school board members met briefly on Tuesday evening to discuss graduation plans.
Superintendent Jeanne Osterfeld said a parade will be held on Sunday to honor the class of 2020. The parade will begin at noon in Willshire, followed by another parade at 1 p.m. in Rockford and a final parade at 2 p.m. in Mendon.
Information on where parents and students can line up was sent to students via email, high school principal Brian Fortkamp said. Parade routes were to be posted on the school's website this morning. The parade will go on, rain or shine, and officials request only one vehicle per family.
Fortkamp said a graduation video featuring the class of 2020 also will be put on the district's website. Students were able to walk across a stage and receive their diplomas, and speeches were also filmed.
After walking across the stage, students and up to six family members posed for photos. Fortkamp said parents and students should receive a USB drive with a copy of the graduation video and the photos about two weeks after graduation.
Board members also met in executive session for about two hours to discuss personnel appointment or evaluation and confidential matters as required by federal/state laws and statutes.
