Paul Bruns
Paul J. "Wac" Bruns, age 73, of Coldwater, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 21, 2020, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born November 6, 1946, in Coldwater to the late Urban and Bertha (Wenning) Bruns. On March 27, 1971, he married Judy (Kaiser) who survives in Coldwater.
He is also survived by children Carmen and Vern Siefring of Covington, Jon Bruns of Coldwater and Dan Bruns of Coldwater; grandchildren Jaclyn and Dustin Fickert, Mark Siefring, Matt Siefring, Jason Siefring, and Eva Bruns; siblings and in-laws Donnie Bruns of Coldwater, Ruth and John Peters of Versailles, Jim and Marg Bruns of Coldwater, and Ken Bruns of Coldwater; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister Cynthia Bruns and parents-in-law Paul and Helen (Sanning) Kaiser.
Paul was a lifelong resident of Coldwater and owned and operated a tavern in Montezuma for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman whose adventures took him to three continents. Whether he was on another continent, in southern Ohio or on Lake Erie, he was happiest when spending time with "the guys."
He passed the winter by making homemade sausage, grits, and deer summer sausage, playing cards at the American Legion and counting the days until Fenwick Marina at Lake Erie opened. He spent the better part of the summer trolling for walleye and dipping minnows at the bait store. Wac enjoyed his life doing what he loved until the end.
His family of Labrador retrievers - Abbey, Jewel, and Maggie were like children to him. His current silver lab, Dixie, is still waiting at the window for him to come home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Church, Coldwater, on Thursday, June 25.
