Alberta Rethman
Alberta M. (Osterloh) Rethman, age 82, Versailles, Ohio, passed away of natural causes at her residence Wednesday evening, October 21, 2020.
She was born August 16, 1938, in Egypt, Ohio, to the late Aloys & Blanche (Meier) Osterloh. On January 6, 1962, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Egypt, Alberta married James "Jack" C. Rethman who survives.
Also surviving are five children: Ken Rethman & Ann Heitbrink of Anna, Elaine & Kenny Kuhn of Greenville, Bob & Tracy Rethman of St. Henry, Dan & Jodie Rethman of Versailles and Julie & Tom Barhorst of Sidney; eleven grandchildren: Brian Rethman, Sarah & Eric Heitkamp, Taylor Rethman & fiancé Eric Schmitmeyer, Katelyn, Carlee, Derek, Clare, Jayme and Daniel Rethman, Olivia and Blake Barhorst along with two great-grandchildren, Ellie and Clayton Heitkamp; four siblings: Jerry Ostherloh of New Bremen, Linus & Yolanda Osterloh of Columbus, Irvin & Norma Osterloh of Adams, WI and Janice & Tom Weitzel of Columbus: sisters & brothers-in-law: Jovita Osterloh of St. Henry, Barb Osterloh of Minster, Wanda Homan of Rossburg, Gladys Rethman of Maria Stein, Sharon Mayle of Dayton and Deb & Mike Thobe of Tipp City along with numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by five siblings: Alma & Ed Puthoff, Rita & Norb Eilerman, Othmar, Ivo and Laura Osterloh; brothers & sisters-in-law: Clem Homan, Connie & Jerry Meyer, Dennis Rethman and Gene Mayle.
Alberta had been a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, St. Ann's Ladies Sodality and the North Star American Legion Auxiliary. A dedicated farm wife and homemaker, Bertie enjoyed baking, gardening, canning and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a spirited card player.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at St. Louis Church in North Star with Rev. David Howard presiding. Interment will follow at St. Louis Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday 3:00 to 7:00 PM and Tuesday 9:00 to 9:45 AM at Gehret Funeral Home in Fort Loramie. Please wear a mask and practice social distancing at all funeral rites.
