Robert Yeater Jr.
Robert "Bob" Wayde Yeater Jr. (age 68) of St. Marys, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 11:58 pm at his residence, following a courageous fourteen-year battle with cancer.
He was born on January 24, 1953 in Washington, D.C., to the late Robert and Loraine (Hutson) Yeater Sr. Robert married Sue (Nieberding) in Botkins, Ohio on July 15, 2011. Throughout the years Robert and Sue treasured many sweet memories together and had a strong marriage bond. They enjoyed church services, camping at state parks, nature, trips to Gatlinburg and Denver, grandkids activities and hanging out with family.
Robert is survived by his wife Sue, daughters Lori and Rebecca, sister Brenda (Robert) Klein of St. Marys, stepson Ryan (Alicia) Luebke of Denver, Colorado, stepdaughter Sara (Ryan) Egbert of Anna, step grandchildren Silas, Bette Lou and James, mother-in-law Mary Lou Nieberding of Maria Stein, brother-in-law Patrick (Nancy) Nieberding of Maria Stein, sister-in-laws: Kate (Dean) Hartwig of New Bremen, Jaci (Tom) Koester of St. Henry and Lisa (Jim) Behr of Maria Stein, uncle Rusty (Shirley) Hutson of Lumberport, West Virginia, nephews: Joe (Dena) Huff and Kevin (Celissa) Huff of Covington, niece Megan (Ryan) Klein Wendel of St. Marys and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Michael "Mikey" Yeater, father-in-law Robert Nieberding, great nephew Kaleb Huff, aunt Ruth Cottrell, uncles: Ted Hutson Jr., Frank Hutson and Wesley Leo Yeater, and cousin JoAnn Yeater.
Robert embodied a life of strength and dedication. He previously worked for the Val Decker Meat Packing Plant in Piqua, the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Florida, an active member of the New Bremen EMS, and retired from Crown Equipment Corporation in New Bremen.
Robert enjoyed fishing, camping with family, woodworking, learning to play a variety of stringed instruments, spending time with family and watching sports. He was a member of Only Believe Ministries in Botkins, Ohio. In his younger years he and his son, Mikey, made many memories scuba diving and fishing in the ocean as well as being black belts in Karate.
His positive attitude and infectious smile lit up the room. Always willing to offer his help and advice, Robert touched the lives of all who had the pleasure to know him.
There will be a private graveside service held in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen for close family members with Pastor Ed Ingram officiating.
A special thank you goes to the doctors and staff at the Grand Lake Regional Cancer Center of Celina for their caring, compassionate hearts and dedicated service to Robert. Also, a special thank you to the team at Grand Lake Hospice of St. Marys, and for the prayers and support from Only Believe Ministries, and his friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial funds may be donated to the Grand Lake Regional Cancer Center.
