Henry Lefeld
Henry J. "Hank" Lefeld, age 94 of St. Henry, died on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
He was born on November 8, 1926 in St. Henry to the late George and Bernadine (Schmackers) Lefeld. On April 14, 1951 he married his wife of almost 70 years, Mary G. "Trudie" (Heckler) Lefeld, and she survives in Coldwater.
Hank is also survived by children: Daniel & Cindy Lefeld, Rebecca Lefeld, Elaine & Richard Pax, Timothy & Elaine Lefeld, Mark & Theresa Lefeld, Janet & Steve Wendel, Luke & Lisa Lefeld, Patrick Lefeld, George & Bernice Lefeld, and Susan & Matthew Leddy. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and four on the way, and a sister-in-law Mary Ann Lefeld.
In addition to his parents, Hank is preceded in death by three of his daughters, Ann, Marietta, and Henrietta, and his siblings Joseph & Sally Lefeld, Alvina & William Stammen, Dorothy & Richard Kuess, Seraphim & Clarina Lefeld, Agnes & Otto Pohlman, Edward & Viola Lefeld, Bernie & Al Homan, Bernard & Agnes Lefeld, and Martin Lefeld.
Hank was an active member of St. Henry Catholic Church, and the St. Henry Knights of Columbus. He was a Veteran of World War II, proudly serving his country in Japan. He was a proud member of the St. Henry American Legion Post 648 for 75 years. Hank was a former member of the St. Henry Volunteer Fire Department and was the founder of Lefeld Plumbing and Heating since 1955.
He had a passion for sports, especially baseball. Hank played for the New York Yankees until he was called to serve his country in the war. He later helped to form many sports programs in St. Henry. In his more recent years Hank enjoyed fishing and visiting with customers that came to the plumbing shop.
Mass of Christian Burial following all CDC guidelines will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2021 at St. Henry Catholic Church. Livestreaming of the Mass can be viewed at https://sthenrycluster.com/livestream/. Burial with full military honors will follow in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00 until 7:00 pm Friday, March 12 and 9:00 until 10:00 am Saturday at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
