The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Viola Broders
Viola M. Broders, age 87, of rural New Bremen, died on Monday, May 10, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. at her residence after a period of declining health.
She was born on December 4, 1933 in Lima, the daughter of the late Kenneth and Edna (Graham) Fryer.
Survivors include her son, Don Simindinger of New Bremen, her three grandchildren: Chris (Cristy) Simindinger of Sidney, Mollie (Shane) Mounts of Huber Heights, and Kenny Simindinger of New Bremen, her great grandchildren and step-great grandchildren: Casey Simindinger, Brennan Schaefer, Caslin Floyd and Malik Moton. Also surviving is a sister, Irene Grear of Spencerville and a brother, Dick Fryer of Delphos.
Along with her parents, Viola was preceded in death by her companion Darrell D. Darnell, a son and daughter in-law David (Alma) Simindinger, and a daughter in-law Cinda Simindinger.
Viola was a 1951 graduate of Spencerville High School. She had worked at GoodYear in St. Marys for over 30 years. She was a strong-willed woman and a strict disciplinarian, but she also knew how to have fun with her family and friends. She enjoyed planting and tending to her flowers, taking walks around the pond near her home, and enjoyed taking trips to Frankenmuth, Michigan. She also loved to bake cookies, especially for her grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 13, 2021 beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen with Pastor Ed Rinehart officiating. Interment will follow in the Elm Grove Cemetery of St. Marys.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, and again on Thursday, one hour prior to the services.
Memorial contributions in memory of Viola be made to the Grand Lake Hospice (1122 E. Spring Street, St. Marys, OH 45885).
