The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for the entire state of Ohio as smoke from Canadian wildfires continues to adversely impact air quality.
Pollutants across the state are expected to range from the 'Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups' category in the southwest part of the state to the 'Unhealthy' category in the rest of the state. Hourly concentrations at times may reach the 'Very Unhealthy' to 'Hazardous' categories.
It is recommended, when possible, to avoid strenuous outdoor activities, especially those with heart disease and respiratory conditions like asthma. Watch for symptoms including wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, dizziness, or burning in the nose, throat, and eyes.

Carl Horn
Carl F. Horn, 78, of Saint Marys, died 5:40 A.M. Friday, May 7, 2021, at St. Ritas Medical Center, Lima.
He was born March 1, 1943, in Bellefontaine, Ohio, the son of Horrace and Audra (Dowden) Horn. He married Linda Castle on January 1, 1972, in Ontario, Ohio; she survives in Saint Marys.
He is also survived by his daughter, Kristin (Greg) Yingling of Seminole, Florida; by two grandchildren: Spencer and Alex Yingling. He is survived by a sister, Leah Horn of Kenneth City, Florida; by an aunt and uncle whom he was very close with, Leroy and Eleanor Dowden.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Nancy Lester.
Carl was a graduate of Willis High School in Delaware, Ohio. He graduated from the Ohio State University with a BS in Food Science. After graduation from college, he was drafted into the US Army, where he served for 2 years. Carl moved to Saint Marys to serve as the Operations Manager of Saint Marys Beef Company, and he retired from LJ Minor Corporation in Cleveland.
He loved OSU and Saint Marys Roughrider sports, and he was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist Church.
Funeral rites will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, May 14, 2021, at the Wayne Street United Methodist Church, the Reverend Tim Benjamin, officiant.
Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. Thursday at the Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 West High Street, Saint Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to either the Saint Marys Community Foundation Animal Rescue Fund, which is operated by Mile Creek Veterinary Service, or the Auglaize County Humane Society.
All visitors to the funeral home are required to wear a mask, in accordance with the mandate of the Ohio Department of Health.
