John Roettger
John L. Roettger, 69, of New Knoxville, OH died 2:00 a.m. Monday December 6, 2021 at JTDM Hospital in St. Marys, OH.
He was born November 14, 1952 in Celina, OH to Lowell and Rosemary (Wieser) Roettger.
Survivors include: son Andrew (Lisa) Roettger of New Knoxville, OH; 4 grandchildren: Jett, Maggie, Lena and Levi Roettger; former wife Rae Ann Jarrells of New Knoxville, OH.
Preceded in death death by: parents Lowell and Rosemary Roettger; sister Joan Roettger.
He was a graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School (Class of 1971) and ITT Technical Institute in Dayton, OH where he earned a degree in architectural engineering.
He retired from Hoge Lumber Co. in New Knoxville in 2017, where he designed countless residential and commercial projects in his 42 years of service to the company. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New Knoxville Gun Club and Sons of the American Legion. A devout Catholic, he especially enjoyed attending the Men's Fellowship Group on Saturday mornings. His quick wit and pleasant demeanor will be missed by those who knew him. More than anything else, John treasured the time spent with his grandchildren and working in the family workshop alongside his son.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday December 10, 2021 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church 511 E. Spring Street in St. Marys, with the Rev. Alexander Witt, celebrant. Private family burial will take place at the Gethsemane Catholic Cemetery in St. Marys.
Visitation 9:30 - 10:45 a.m. on Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either St. Jude's Children's Hospital or Holy Rosary Church.
