Thomas Rose
Thomas J. Rose, age 88, passed away March 29, 2022, at Mercer Health in Coldwater.
He was born January 29, 1934, in Sharpsburg, Ohio to Arthur H. and Florence M. ( Zehringer) Rose. He married Alice E. Gehle on May 30, 1964. She passed away on February 12, 2012.
Thomas is survived by children and in-laws: Karen Schwieterman, Portland; Linda & John Barr, Fairborn; Diane Hoover & Ken Rempe, St Henry. He is also survived by six grandchildren and their spouses: Justin, Scott (Kenzi), Eric, Amber (Stephen), Kevin, & Titus.
In addition to his parents and wife, Thomas is preceded in death by a sibling and in-laws: Mary Alice & Don Bruns, Rich & Audrey Gehle, Helen & Walter Dues, Marilyn & Martin Mott, Wib & Rita Gehle, anda grandson,Caleb Hoover.
Thomas was a member of the St. Henry Catholic Church, St. Henry Knights of Columbus, Tau Beta Pi, National Engineering Society, and PERI (Public Employees Retirees, Inc.). He was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers upon graduation from the University of Dayton in June 1956. He served on active duty from August 1956 to May 1958 (17 months in Korea) and in the reserves until honorably discharged with the rank of captain in June 1964. Thomas was a registered Professional (Civil) Engineer. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation, District Seven, Sidney, after 35 ½ years of service as a project engineer, office engineer, and district construction engineer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2022, at St. Henry Church, St. Henry. Burial will follow at St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, and 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 2 at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Society of the Precious Blood, Cincinnati Province, or the Sisters of the Precious Blood.
