Tammy Butler
Tammy Sue (Woods) Butler, age 57, of Celina, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
She was born October 12, 1964, in Celina, to Gerald Arthur "Buss" and Vina (Hicks) Woods. Her father preceded her in death on August 17, 2007, and her mother survives in Celina.
Tammy is also survived by her husband, Michael Butler. Mike and Tammy met through a dating website, and agreed to meet for the first time at Subway in Celina. Mike, who was from Delphos, and not familiar with Celina, didn't realize there were two Subway locations in Celina. He went to the Market Street Subway, while Tammy was at the Walmart Subway. Each thought they had been "stood up" by the other. But they contacted each other by phone, and met up. After dating for a few years, they were married on October 19, 2020.
Tammy leaves behind her children: Ashley Steinke and Joey Rider of Celina, three grandchildren: Shaun, Harmony, and Anthony Steinke, brothers: John (Marisa) Woods and Edward Woods of Celina, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family, as well as her therapy dog, Jasmine.
Tammy was a 1984 graduate of Celina High School. She retired after working for many years at the Huffy Bicycle Plant, and as a cook at Behm's Restaurant. Favorite activities were decorating and spending time with her grandkids.
Calling Hours will be held at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina, on Thursday, July 28, from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 to 6:00 p.m., with the Funeral Service to follow, beginning at 6:00. Ronnie Hagaman will officiate.
Memorial Contributions may be made to The Cancer Association of Mercer County or a charity of the Donor's Choice.
Condolences can be expressed to Tammy's family at dickandsonshellwarthfh.com.
