Shirley Balster
Shirley J. Balster, age 81, of St. Henry, died on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
She was born April 12, 1941, in Vandalia, Ohio to the late Julius & Louise (Fiely) Meyer. Shirley married Harold Balster on May 14, 1960, at Saints Peter and Paul Church, Newport, OH. Harold, her loving husband of over 62 years, survives at their home in St. Henry.
Shirley and Harold were blessed with six children, Tina & Kevin Wenning of Coldwater, Randy & Diane Balster of St. Henry, Jim & Marlene Balster and Ken & Karen Balster all of New Bremen, Nick & Jennie Balster and David & Deb Balster all of St. Henry. Their family grew to include 18 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren with another on the way. Also surviving are in-laws, Joan Meyer and Charlene Meyer of Newport, Linda Meyer of New Bremen, Elsie Balster of Coldwater, Lois Balster of Apache Junction, AZ, Bob Kinderman of Washington Township, Dennis & Bev Balster of Vandalia, Margie & Terry Boeckman of Coldwater, Delbert & Beatrice Balster of Tipp City, and Bernice & Gene Liening of Freeland, MI.
  In addition to her parents, Shirley is preceded in death by a grandchild, as well as siblings and in-laws, Marilyn & Joe Caprara, Adolph (Sonny) Meyer, Cliff Meyer, Robert Meyer (infant), Bill Meyer, Carolyn & Bob Boerger, Delbert Meyer, Werner Balster, Lester & Rae Ann Balster, Ralph & Karen Balster, and Rita Kinderman.
  Shirley was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, and the Altar Rosary Sodality. She had owned and operated the Chatt & Curl Beauty Salon in St. Henry for many years. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30am on Friday, August 19, 2022, at St. Henry Catholic Church. Following the funeral mass, burial will take place in St. Henry Cemetery.
Friends and family may call from 4:00pm - 8:00pm on Thursday, August 18, and from 9:00am - 10:00am on Friday, August 19, at the Hogenkamp Funeral Home in St. Henry.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
