Herbert Luedeke
Herbert B. Luedeke, age 53, of Botkins, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at his home in Botkins.
He was born on January 29, 1969 in St. Marys, the son of the late Benjamin L. and Adelgundi (Dinges) Luedeke.
Surviving are his daughters: Ashley Hill of Vandalia, Kaitlyn Luedeke of Wapakoneta, and Betty Luedeke of Sidney, his grandchildren: Olivia, Olanah, Omar'e, Oriyah, Ivy, Harper, Evelynn, and Lillian. He is also survived by his siblings: Christi (Luke) Yahl, Leslie Koesters, Sean (Tonya) Luedeke, and Dorothy Daniel all of St. Marys, and many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Betty Luedeke.
Herb had attended New Bremen High School, and although he did not graduate, he became a successful machinist. He had been employed at Ross Aluminum in Sidney for the last twelve years, which was a job he really enjoyed. Outside of work, he had a passion for working on cars. He also enjoyed buying scratch off lottery tickets - and had some great luck in the last few years. His real love in life were his daughters and granddaughters. He was a devoted single father who took pride in having his girls help with chores because "it builds character," and was a loving grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren taking walks and reading stories.
A service to celebrate Herb's life will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at 6:00 P.M. at the Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home in New Bremen (225 W. Monroe Street, New Bremen, Ohio 45869).
Family and friends may pay their respects prior to the services on Wednesday, September 14, from 3:00 until 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Online condolences to the Luedeke family can be left on the funeral home website at www.gilberghartwigfh.com.
