Ethel Pontsler
Ethel Marie Pontsler, 84, of Rockford, beloved wife of the late Donald Pontsler, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2022.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1938 to the late Ellery and Roberta Mosher, Ethel kept her New England charm after moving to the Midwest in her youth.
Known by many as the "Angel Lady", Ethel used her talents as an artist for families to remember their loved ones as angels. Her work can also be seen in the Rockford Christmas Walk posters and signs throughout the community. She loved being a self taught artist and found great joy sharing her love for art.
She is survived by her children: David (Charity) Pontsler, Rockford; Karen (Clarence) Thomas, Jacksonville, Florida, Jody (Richard) Lamparelli, Quaker Hill, Connecticut, daughter-in-law Tammy Pontsler, Rockford, sisters: Gloria Bruce, Lyn Loughridge and 11 grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her son, Jeff, sister Roberta Grothause, and brother Hugh E. Mosher.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ethel's memory may be sent to: The Leota Braun Foundation https://leotabraun.org/. The family wishes to thank Tranquility of Rockford for their kind care.
