CELINA - After 35 years of ushering in benefits that have saved and in many cases extended the lives of those who served their country, Tom Risch retired this week as director of Mercer County Veterans Services.
Risch on behalf of veterans filed claims for disabilities, medical expenses, pensions and other benefits and coordinated transportation to Veterans Administration healthcare centers in Lima and Dayton. [More]

NEW BREMEN - After snapping a 27-year drought with a Midwest Athletic Conference title last year, the Marion Local boys track team came in Friday as a heavy favorite and lived up to the expectations.

DARKE COUNTY - Approximately 20,000 chickens and the barn that housed them were destroyed in a massive barn fire just over the county line on Friday afternoon.
CELINA - A mobile home on Touvelle Street was deemed a total loss following a fire early Friday morning.
The fire at 537 Touvelle Street, lot 19, was reported at 2:45 a.m., according to Celina Fire Chief Joel Lange. Lange was unsure who owns the property.
